Thorsberg pants are early medieval legwear found in archaeological excavations in the Thorsberg Moor. The site in the Thorsberg Moor is considered by mainstream opinion to be a cult site of the god Donar/Thor in the settlement area of the Germanic tribe of the Angles. Most of the finds date from the 3rd and 4th century.
The Thorsberg pants are therefore a piece of clothing that can clearly be assigned to the Germanic habitat, and thus a must for an authentic Germanic or Viking costume.
The excavated pieces have a cut that is considered formative for the style of early medieval men's legwear in Europe and can be archaeologically proven in a similar form centuries after the creation of the Thorsberg specimens. For example, pants based on this basic pattern can still be found in illustrations of the Passio Kiliani, as well as among the specimens from Haithabu, which date from the 11th century.
